Product Description:
The cell is useful for testing 38mm dia x 76mm high soil specimen. Transparent Perspex chamber with anvil and loading plunger, the cell is easily opened by releasing four nuts of the tie rods. It is leak proof up to 10kg/cm.sq. Fluid pressure. An oil plug which can also be used as an air vent is provided for introducing a thin layer of oil over water. This provides effective sealing at the plunger for long duration tests. The cell is fitted with four sleeve packed valves of no volume change type on the base. These valves are used for cell pressure, pore water pressure, drainage or back pressure. The loading plunger of the cell has dial gauge rest.

Product Description:

The Standard Penetration Test can be used for the design of foundations. SPT is widely used for measuring the undisturbed strength of the soil and for assessing its resistance to liquefaction due to ground vibrations caused by earthquakes or other dynamic forces. The Standard Penetration Resistance is measured as the number of blows ‘N’ required to drive a split spoon sampler.

It is a super-conducting device and involves the transfer of heat by boiling and condensation of fluid and hence the transfer of heat takes place under nearly isothermal condition. In this apparatus, the comparison of heat pipe with the copper pipe as a good conductor of heat and with the stainless steel pipe as the same material of construction is made. It consists of three identical cylindrical conductors in respect of geometry.

Casagrande Test Apparatus or Liquid Limit Apparatus in mechanical form is known as Liquid Limit Method and has been in use for soil mechanics for a number of years. The Liquid Limit data of soils is useful to correlate mechanical properties of soil, such as compressibility and lower shear strength. Liquid limit is the water content at which soil passes from zero strength to an infinite strength, hence the true value of liquid limit cannot be determined.For determination purpose liquid limit is that water content at which a part of soil, cut by a groove of standard dimensions, will flow together for a distance of 1.25cm under an impact of 25 blows in a standard liquid limit apparatus. The soil at the water content has some strength which is about0.17N/cm. sq. (17gms/sq.cm.) . At this water content soil just passes from liquid state to plastic state.

The California Bearing Ratio Test, (usually called CBR test) is an empirical penetration test for evaluation of mechanical strength of natural ground, subgrades and base courses beneath new carriageway construction. It is to determine the relative bearing ratio and expansion characteristics. Conventionally particle size distribution analysis is carried out using pipette and hydrometer methods. Whereas in hydrometer method it is possible to determine particle sizes in the range 75 microns, the method involves computation and it is time consuming. Product Description:The compaction factor is defined as the ratio of the mass of the concrete compacted in the compaction factor apparatus to the mass of the fully compacted concrete. It involves dropping a volume of concrete from one hopper to another and measuring the volume of concrete in the final hopper to that of a fully compacted volume. The results of the compaction factor test can be correlated to slump, although the relationship is not linear. This test is difficult to run in the field and is not practical for large aggregates (over 1 inch) Compared to the slump test, the apparatus is bulky and a balance is required to perform measurements.
Specification:The apparatus, consisting of a rigid frame that supports two conical hoppers vertically aligned above each other and mounted above a cylinder. The top hopper is slightly larger than the bottom hopper, while the cylinder is smaller in volume than both hoppers. To perform the test, the top hopper is filled with concrete but not compacted. The door on the bottom of the top hopper is opened and the concrete is allowed to drop into the lower hopper. Once all of the concrete has fallen from the top hopper, the door on the lower hopper is opened to allow the concrete to fall to the bottom cylinder. The excess concrete is carefully struck off the top of the cylinder and the mass of the concrete in the cylinder is recorded. This mass is compared to the mass of fully compacted concrete in the same cylinder achieved with hand rodding or vibration. Complete with the trowel and tamping bar 0-60 cms long X 16mm Dia.

FEATURES:

  • Soil model is the combination of soil electronic data and soil physical data input by users, and it is the basis of testing soil parameters in a similar soil characteristic area.
  • When making a soil model, EDG is needed to collect electronic signals at different test points (the test point of this soil model is called soil test). Each test point needs to collect an electronic signal. At the same time, sand cone test is needed to obtain the physical characteristics of the soil, such as wet density, dry density and moisture content. The maximum dry density of the soil is measured in the laboratory, and then these data are input into the instrument so that the electronic data can be correlated with the physical data.
  • At least three test points (soil test) are required for soil moulding. The more test points, the more representative the soil model will be. Moreover, the larger the density and water content range covered by the test points.
  • After the soil model is made, EDG can be used for field test. The test area is the area where the experimenter intends to test and the tested soil has the same physical characteristics.
  • A soil model is usually made for each different test area. Different projects need different soil moulds. Once the soil model representing this area is successfully made, the soil characteristics of any test point can be quickly and accurately measured by EDG through field test.
  • The actual test is to calculate the physical properties of soil by comparing the electronic data collected from the test points with the soil model.

Shrinkage limit is the maximum water content at which a reduction in water content does not cause an appreciable reduction in volume of the Soil Mass. At shrinkage limit, on further reduction in water, air enters in to the voids of soils and thus keeps the volume constant. The apparatus can be used to determine shrinkage limit and to calculate other shrinkage ratio, shrinkage index and volumetric shrinkage.
